You Don’t Have To Live With The Discomfort Of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids can be a painful and embarrassing condition to suffer with. They can occur in anyone and sometimes for no reason at all. They can often be managed with proper care and topical medication. This article can help you to relieve the problems encountered by patients who suffer with hemorrhoids.

A good option to treating a severe hemorrhoid problem is by using the herb horse chestnut. This herb was used in the past as a natural remedy to relieve swelling and inflammation. It can be taken as tea or in capsule form. It can also be applied externally as a compress. Before taking any supplement, be sure that you talk with your pharmacist or doctor.

Your diet can have a significant impact on whether or not you are more prone to suffering from hemorrhoids. Certain foods and drinks can be especially irritating as they pass through the bowels. A diet that is filled with overly spicy foods or strong beverages like coffee, soda, and alcohol will put you at greater risk of forming hemorrhoids.

There are several uncomfortable symptoms that can come about as a result of this issue and it is important that you face each of them head on. The most common and perhaps first sign of developing hemorrhoids is bleeding during bowel movements. This is always a sign that something is not working properly.

Try using an ice pack to reduce swelling and alleviate pain from a hemorrhoid flareup. Some people also find applying over the counter creams or witch hazel to the affected area helpful in reducing swelling. To prevent further hemorrhoid irritation use a donut pillow when sitting or avoid sitting altogether.

If you have a very firm chair at work, bring a cushion to sit on during the day. This cushion can reduce the amount of friction that you have on your skin, which can limit the sores that you acquire. Find a soft gel cushion to sit on while at work.

A supplement that you should implement into your daily routine if you have hemorrhoids is zinc. Zinc has a lot of beneficial properties, as it can help to eliminate the amount of toxins in your body. This will control your pain so that you can reduce aches and pains when active.

Get some exercise if you want to avoid hemorrhoids. Constantly sitting can put pressure on the veins in your anus, and cause hemorrhoids. Moving around can help to prevent this problem. If you’re in a sedentary job, get up at least once an hour. Be sure to fit in some time for exercise before or after work as well.

Be gentle on those painful hemorrhoids by easing up on the extremely hot foods. This may be self-explanatory if you have experienced it yourself, but many times the spicy food that you consume ends up irritating your current hemorrhoids, or or even causing excruciating pain.

As has been noted, hemorrhoids can be very painful and also embarrassing. They make people suffer in many ways, both physical and emotional. They can be treated and sometimes prevented with proper care. By studying the information in this article and implementing the advice you can hope to see a change in your condition.

Common Dental Problems Explained

Common Dental Problems Explained

Source: Flickr

Keeping a healthy mouth is very important. You will not feel good if you have a bad breath and a decayed tooth. Also, your confidence can be affected if you have some dental problems. For example, you will not feel comfortable talking around people if you have a bad breath. They might cover their mouth when you are talking with them, and that will greatly embarrass you. To keep your mouth healthy, you should visit your dentist regularly. There are some solutions as well that you can do on your own to solve your own dental problems.
Bad Breath
Having a bad breath is one of the most common dental problems. There are several causes of bad breath, and the solution to this depends on its cause. But, generally, brushing your teeth regularly and flossing can solve this dental problem. There are some foods as well that contribute to the formation of a bad breath. Examples of such are garlic, onions and other spices. Limit your intake of these foods to avoid having a bad breath. Cutting down your smoking habit will also prevent you from having a bad breath.
Drinking enough water everyday will also prevent you from having a bad breath. If your mouth is very dry, there is a great chance that you will have a smelly breath. However, by drinking six to eight glasses of water a day, you will prevent your moth from being dry, and you will prevent yourself from getting a bad breath.
Gum Recession
Brushing your teeth at least twice a day during the morning when you wake up and before you sleep at night can prevent you from having a gum recession. Flossing regularly is another solution to this dental problem. If your gums are very sensitive, make sure that you use an ultrasoft toothbrush to prevent your gums from bleeding and from getting hurt. Moreover, visiting the dentist regularly for check-ups will help you prevent this problem. Sometimes, taking in Vitamin C supplements will help you prevent this dental problem from occurring.
Tooth Decay
Tooth decay is common not only to kids, but also to adults. If you do not want to suffer from the pain due to your decaying tooth, you should prevent your tooth from decaying as much as possible. There are several ways on how you can prevent your tooth from decaying. The first one is brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing your teeth once a day. Make sure that the toothpaste that you will be using has a fluoride content to keep your teeth strong.
Having a balanced and healthy diet is another solution for tooth decay. Eat foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals. Avoid eating acidic foods and drinks such as colas and sodas. Go for fruit juices and water to prevent your teeth from eroding and decaying. As usually recommended, a regular visit with the dentist can also prevent your teeth from decaying.
Mouth Sores
The main cause of the mouth sores is the virus that is present in the mouth. There are two kinds of mouth sores: the cankers and the cold sores. Normally, these mouth sores will heal in a week or two. To reduce the pain that is caused by these mouth sores, you can buy an antimicrobial rinse from a drug store. A topical anaesthetic is also available over the counter. To avoid this from occurring, you should always keep your mouth clean by brushing everyday and flossing regularly.

Handling The Usual Oral Health Issues

Handling The Usual Oral Health Issues

C5D_1002

We all know that to have healthy teeth and gums, one should brush and floss daily, eat healthy foods, and visit the dentist regularly. But sometimes these aren’t enough. Many people are bothered with oral health problem such as cavities, bad breath, receding gums, mouth sores, and erosion which in effect take away their confidence to smile. These oral health problems occur whenever we do not properly take care of our oral health. There are also many ways to prevent this from happening, and the simplest thing for now is knowing – and doing – the right preventive measures against these dental problems.
Your diet and your oral hygiene are big factors in your oral health. Regular visits to the dentist could make a huge difference. But what if you were not able to prevent this from happening? What if you are suffering from it right at this very moment? This would only mean one thing. You are looking for the best treatment methods. Listed below are some of the common dental problems and how to treat them, and ideas on preventing these common troubles.
Bad breath. Halitosis or bad breath is treated based on what caused it. Brushing and flossing is important because it protects your mouth from bacteria that cause the foul smell. Even if your dentist assures you that you have healthy teeth and gums, you should dig a little deeper as it can be a symptom of a different problem. Bronchitis, sinusitis, respiratory infections, diabetes, problem with the liver or kidneys, and gastro intestinal disturbance like GERD, are examples of illnesses that could be indicated by bad breath. Other possible culprits are too much garlic and onion, smoking, and certain types of medication.
Tooth decay and tooth erosion. Brushing your teeth at least two times a day and using a dental floss once a day with regular visits to the dentist can stave off tooth decay and erosion. There are also protective plastic sealants that reduce one’s risk of having cavities. Avoid developing plaque and erosion by reducing your snacking and having a healthy diet. Studies show that acidic food and drinks cause the enamel to wear off so stay away from sodas, sports drinks, citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes and pickles. Also, if you have bulimia or experience acid refluxes, go see a doctor for treatment since gastric acid is one of the causes of teeth erosion.
Receding gums. Periodontal or gum problems have serious consequences. Gingivitis in its early stage causes the gums to swell and redden and also more prone to bleeding. In severe cases of periodontitis, the gums and bones supporting the teeth are damaged which eventually leads to losing one’s choppers. It is recommended that you practice brushing and flossing every day and go to the dentist regularly. Dental experts suggest using a toothbrush with soft bristles and wearing a night guards since gum recession can be caused by hard-bristled toothbrushes, clenching, grinding, contact of gums with dirty objects, and malposition of teeth.
Mouth Sores. The common sores that we get are canker sores and cold sores. Canker sores are found inside the mouth while cold ones are outside and usually appear on the edge of the lips. they are painful and unpleasant but fortunately treatable with over-the-counter drugs and antimicrobial mouth washes and topical anaesthetics to temporarily relieve cold sores.
No matter what mouth problems you are experiencing, there will always be treatment methods available. The bottom line is that it can be prevented. All it takes is discipline to visit the dentists regularly, good diet and knowledge about oral health.

Tip-Top Treatment For Baby Bottoms

FaceTopoIOSapp_GulnaraNiazPhotographerBrooklineMA-032
Source: Flickr

Until recently, mothers have had to rely on adult over-the-counter antifungal creams to treat their babies’ cases of diaper rash complicated by yeast infections. For the first time, a prescription product-Vusion™ (0.25% miconazole nitrate, 15% zinc oxide and 81.35% white petrolatum) Ointment-is available and is indicated and specifically formulated for the treatment of this condition, called diaper dermatitis complicated by candidiasis (DDCC), in infants 4 weeks and older. Confirmation of DDCC is determined by microscopic evaluation for presence of pseudohyphae or budding yeast.

DDCC is a highly prevalent rash in infants that can cause great discomfort and distress. Typically, DDCC infections are characterized by a rash of bright red patches with irregular, raised borders and white scales on the surface. The main patches are often surrounded by smaller patches and painful sores or blisters.

Infants often get DDCC when their diapers chafe and break the surface of the skin, making it easier for microorganisms such as yeast to invade the skin. Other risk factors for DDCC include diarrhea, prolonged diaper rash, skin hygiene and the recent use of broad-spectrum antibiotics. The condition can occur anytime of year, but DDCC is often triggered in the winter months when the use of antibiotics commonly prescribed for illnesses such as ear infections is at its peak.

Treatment options have included the use of antifungal products, steroids and combination products that are not specifically approved for the treatment of DDCC or for use on infants.

“With Vusion™ Ointment now approved for the U.S. market, pediatricians and dermatologists can prescribe a treatment specifically meant for the condition that it was designed for and that is well tolerated for use on infants,” said Dr. Mary Spraker, a pediatric dermatologist and associate professor in Emory University’s Department of Dermatology, who assisted in the design of a Phase 3 clinical trial of the product. “Doctors are no longer reliant on prescribing antifungal agents intended for adults that have not been tested on children with DDCC.”

Vusion™ Ointment was developed by Barrier Therapeutics, a Princeton, N.J.-based pharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of products in the field of dermatology.

Skin Cancer: A Woman’s Worst Nightmare

Kolors Reviews
Source: Flickr

The skin, which turns out to be a woman’s pride, is always part of her vanity ritual. This ritual involves the use of every imaginable soap or lotion ever invented to pamper and keep the skin silky smooth. Almost every pampering method is exploited to lavish care and attention on the precious skin. That is why when a woman develops skin cancer, her world is totally crushed and her self-esteem is immediately shattered.

A skin cancer is a cancer that results in the overproduction of harmful cells on the skin. This cancer is usually detected by looking for a pigment called melanoma. Signs of skin cancer include a sudden change in the appearance of the skin or the presence of wounds or sores that don’t heal. The two most common forms of skin cancer are asquamous cells and carcinoma. These two are also better known as non-melanoma skin cancer. There is an estimated 1,000,000 new cases of non-melanoma cancer in the United States for this year alone.

Skin cancer occurs when the UV Light (Ultra Violet) from the sun damages the DNA in skin, causing skin cells to mutate and grow into cancers. Although sunlight is very important, it keeps us warm and it allows skin to manufacture vitamin D which is essential to metabolic processes that leads to having strong bones. On the other hand, the UV light found in sunlight damages the DNA in skin, causing its skin cells to mutate.

People who are at most risk or likely to get skin cancer are those people who spent a lot of time outdoors. People who engage in frequent outdoor activities like mountaineering, rock climbing, hiking, working in the farm, or fishing are thought to be predisposed to skin cancer. Urbanites who fancy spending their weekends on hot tropical island getaways are also at risk.

Generally when a cancer is found, it is removed through surgical means and it’s only in advanced cases that the use of chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy is considered. Another least common type of skin cancer is the melanoma which is mostly a common skin cancer in men and women between the ages of 15 to 44 years old. Melanoma is a cancer of melancytes— and usually looks dark brown, black or blue-black. It can looked flat or raised. It can look as a patch of normal skin like a mole or a freckle. Some signs of this cancer include:

1. A change of color (much darker than before)
2. Bleeding
3. Itching
4. A mole appears for the first time when you are already over 30

PREVENTING SKIN CANCER AND OTHER SKIN CARE TREATMENT TIPS

l The sun is at its peak between 10 am to 4 pm and so try to seek the shade or bring a hat or umbrella with you if there is no place that you can seek as a cover from the heat rays.
l Use a sunscreen always with an SPF of 15 or higher when ever possible
l Use a UV-blocking sunglasses.
l Examine your skin, look for some slight changes.
l When in doubt seek help from a skin professional so you can take some skin test.

The overall outlook is that you can prevent skin cancer. If you suspect that your mole is cancerous, let a well-trained doctor examine it right away or visit a dermatologist.

Tips For Solving All Your Skin Care Problems

Early Christmas surprise:)
Source: Flickr

There are hundreds of people who are unaware of the simple requirements for proper skin care. Many people take the time to care for their bodies and their minds, but few people understand what is needed for correctly maintaining your skin. By reading the following tips you will be able to have healthier skin quickly.

If you want your skin to have a light golden glow, then you can mix in a small amount of tan lotion into your moisturizing cream, so that the lotion penetrates your skin. This has been shown to give a person’s skin a beautiful healthy glow that is sexy and beautiful.

For long lasting beauty, make sure to use moisturizer with sunscreen at all times of the year. Even in the wintertime, the sun’s glare on the snow can damage your skin. Don’t rely on just moisturizer for a trip to the beach. Make sure you have real sunscreen with you for whenever long exposure to the sun is necessary.

To properly care for your skin, it is important to stay out of the heat. Very high temperatures can make the red appearance of your skin worse. This means that saunas, steam rooms and even spicy foods, should be avoided if you want to stop the formation of broken capillaries.

If you have black heads and you want to get rid of them you can use Epsom salts and some iodine, dip a cotton ball in this solution and apply to the areas in which you have black heads. After it dries rinse and cleanse the skin. This solution is known to loosen black heads.

For total body exfoliation, invest in a long-handled, natural bristle brush. Before you step into the bath or shower, brush your dry skin with vigorous, circular motions. In addition to leaving your skin feeling tingly and invigorated, dry brushing will also improve your circulation and slough away dead skin to create a glowing appearance.

To take better care of your skin in the winter, avoid getting your gloves, socks, or any other articles of clothing wet. This will irritate your skin, causing itching and cracking, and sometimes even sores. If your clothes do get wet, exchange them for dry ones as soon as possible.

The perfect time to moisturize your skin is straight after a bath or shower is completed, and the skin is still damp. The steam from the water will have opened the skin‘s pores, which will allow the moisturizer to be readily absorbed beneath the skin‘s surface. A daily moisturize will combat any dehydration caused by day to day exposure to pollutants and weather conditions.

Apply moisturiser as soon as you get out of the bath or shower and make sure you choose a moisturiser suitable for your skin type. By applying moisturiser as soon as you have been washed, you help to seal moisture into your skin. If you have oily skin you should use an oil-free moisture gel, whereas people with dry skin should use a thick, rich cream.

Although skin care can seem like a strange world filled with creams and lotions the truth is that not much is needed to maintain healthy skin. This will help you look more professional as well as have more confidence on the dating scene. The tips you have read will improve many areas of your life.

Is Pet Dental Health Really Important?

Maressa F.
Source: Flickr

Many veterinarians stress the importance of oral hygiene because tooth and gum problems are common medical conditions seen in pets. If left unchecked, an unhealthy mouth can affect the liver, kidneys, heart and even the brain.

So when you lean in to give your pet a smooch, ask yourself “Does my pet need a breath mint?” Studies show that 98% of pets with bad breath are suffering from severe plaque build up. Bad breath not only means that your pet’s mouth may be a warehouse for unhealthy bacteria, tartar and plaque, but it can also point to unhealthy intestines. In addition, the quality of your pet’s food can contribute to the status of your pet’s breath. Low quality food can cause digestive problems, thus promoting bad breath.

Can I Share My Toothpaste With My Pet? Absolutely not!
Pets aren’t like us: they swallow whatever you use to clean their teeth. Human toothpaste simply isn’t edible. Nor is the heavy minty flavor really desirable to pets. Human toothpaste can give your pet some serious stomach problems.

Did you know…?
Certain breeds of dogs and cats are genetically predisposed to unhealthy teeth and gums? For example, the Maltese is the number one dog breed with tooth and gum problems. In the cat world, the Siamese and the Abyssinian, charming as they are, have serious tooth problems and often get some of their teeth pulled during their youth. Other factors include viruses, bacteria and not enough abrasive foods.

It all starts with the gums looking almost red, and some of the teeth coated with tartar. When it comes to your pet’s mouth, don’t take anything for granted. When you examine your pet, slowly open his mouth with your fingers and ask yourself the following questions:

Does his breath smell like he just raided a rotten fish market?

Are any of his canines or molars discolored (gray, brown or green)? (Keep in mind that a pet’s teeth may be yellow due to early antibiotics like tetracycline—totally normal.)

Are his gums swollen and bright pink or angry red like a lobster with a sunburn? Note that normal colored gums should be light to medium pink. For some dark colored cats and dogs, gums may be gray.

Do you see any sores on the gums, particularly if you have a cat? They’ll look like craters on the top or bottom gum or lip.

Are his bottom teeth worn down like the soles of a shoe?

Do you see any swelling or sores on his face around the lips, under the eyes or nose? Bad teeth can result in a manifestation of external sores.

If you have a puppy or a kitten, do you see any double teeth?

Is he drooling like a newborn? Keep in mind that some dogs always drool, like the St. Bernard. If your pet is experiencing excessive drooling but doesn’t usually, it could indicate some problem.

Has he lost weight recently as a result of not eating enough?

It’s also important to observe your pet’s behavior as far as food is concerned. Has your pet been approaching his food bowl reluctantly? Has he been eating slower than usual and has he exhibited trouble biting hard things? Does your dog or cat cry during or after eating? Does your cat have the tendency to pick up food, spit it out, pick it up again and finally throw it to the back with his tongue?

If you’ve nodded your head to two or more of any of the questions above, then it’s clear that your pet has some dental health issues! You must take your pet to your veterinarian right away for an oral examination.

When is a Worm not a Worm? Ring Worm and your Cat

Ringworm is a typical skin disease that affects many cats. This medical condition is actually not caused by worms at all, but rather by a fungus. The sores on the skin due to ringworm fungi are circular, which led to the belief at once time that a curling worm under the skin caused this disease. However, there are no worms involved. If you believe that you cat may have ringworm, make sure that you have him or her see a vet to clear the problem.

Ringworm is also called dermatophytosis. There are four species of fungi that cause ringworm in a cat, and because some of these organisms are so well adapted to a cat’s body, about 20% of cats have ringworm and show no outward signs of the disease. Ringworm commonly infected the dead skin, nails, and hair on an organism, using the keratin in the tissue as food.

Both genetics and environment influence the development of ringworm in cats. For example, research has shown that certain cat species develop the disease more readily. Ringworm spreads quickly between cats, so those illegally or even legally breeding cats may find this a problem. Ringworm caused the hair to break off at the skin and may be itchy.

If your cat has ringworm, there are a lot of ways to treat it. First, medications can be given to clear up the fungi found in the body. These may or may not have side effects, so make sure your vet tells you they are safe for your cat. Anti-fungal shampoo baths may also work. These baths should be given every day regularly and are great for cats that don’t mind the water. Lime sulfur dips, done weekly, can also be affective. If you have other pets, they may need to be treated as well to prevent the ringworm from spreading. Vaccines are available to help build an immunization to ringworm. If you cat has extremely long hair, clipping it may be necessary.

Remember, ringworm can infect humans as well as cats, especially children. If your cat has ringworm, or if you suspect this is the case, see your vet immediately. He or she can recommend what course of action you should taken in order to help your cat overcome the ringworm as well as to help the fungi from spreading to other animals and people in your house.
