Tips For Losing Weight

Years ago I was about 50 lbs. over weight. It was mostly extra weight that I put on during my pregnancies. After I had my kids I lost some of the “baby weight” but not all of it. So I was interested in losing the rest and finding tips for losing weight.

Back then there weren’t nearly as many (though there were some) supplements and pills to take to help me lose weight. I instead relied on getting as much information as I could and relying on asking friends for tips for losing weight.

The funny thing was that when I started losing the weight and getting toned and starting to look really good, people would ask me how I did it. Even casual acquaintances would tell me that I looked great and ask me how I did it.

I remember how surprised (and disappointed) they seemed to be when I told them that my “secret” was eating better and getting more exercise. I truly believe they were hoping I was going to tell them about some great pill or shot or something that I had which made it all easy!

So, here are some of the techniques I used for my weight loss. These “secrets” will help you if you put them to use. No, it’s not all going to be quick and easy but it won’t be that hard either. Get your head in the right places and be willing to give it some time:

1. In my opinion one of the biggest mistakes that you can make it so try to do too much too soon. Some people will set them self up for failure because they will try to make such extreme changes that it will be very close to impossible to stick to them.

To give yourself the best chance of success, pick one thing to focus on first. So, instead of trying to totally change your life in one fell swoop, why not increase your odds of success by picking just one thing.

My friend decided she was going to cut back on the amount of pop she drank. So, she decided she would only have one pop a day. Cutting back wasn’t all that hard, but it did require some discipline.

In just one month she lost 10 pounds just cutting back on the amount of pop she drank! Don’t tell me you can’t do something like that too.

2. Next, try to pick on e aspect of your exercise to work on. If you are currently not doing any regular exercise, now is the time to start. So, why not make just one small change? Go for a walk daily for the next month. Don’t change anything else. Do just that one thing and see how much weight you have lost in a month. I’ll bet you will be surprised at the end of one month.

Not only will you likely see some weight loss, you will probably also start to feel stronger, less stiff and not get tired as easily.

I think too many people set them self up for failure when it comes to weight loss. Use these tips for losing weight and be willing to start small for your best chance of success.

Have you ever just felt like you were doing everything you were supposed to in order to lose weight and STILL weren’t dropping the pounds?
During her journey to lose 40lbs in 16 weeks, my good friend Kim faced some pretty serious challenges with regards to her level of motivation.
Another friend of mine, Antonio Goodwin, who lost 4 inches from his waistline in 9 weeks with my program, faced the same frustration.
The problem was that at several times during their weight loss, they both felt as if they were not losing much weight and were not seeing results.
Now, a look at either of their before and after photos on my web sites shows that each of them made quite a substantial improvement in their bodies.
So what would make someone who’s losing weight each week feel as if they were not?
I’ll tell you exactly what. Its referred to as the emotional roller coaster.
This is how it usually goes:
You start a new diet or weight loss program. You’re all excited to be doing something great for your health and the way you look, and you’re sticking to the program, step by step.
Consistent action pays off and after a short while you start getting compliments about the pounds you’re losing week by week.
Then all of a sudden, it all seems to stop. You can no longer see the physical changes in your body, and maybe you even have a moment of weakness and cheat a bit on your diet plan. So now you’re frustrated and mildly depressed. You feel as if true weight loss may NEVER happen for you, no matter what you do.
TIME OUT.
The trick here is to not get stuck in your own frustration.
Now this is a tough one, because everyone and I do mean EVERYONE goes through this stage. Whenever I need to trim down for a photo shoot, I go through it as well.
One of the things that you must understand about the body is that for as long as you are doing the right things on a consistent basis it WILL respond with results.
The Jedi Mind Trick is that oftentimes the progress is subtle, or may be primarily taking place in an area that you cannot see as well.
For instance, my friend Kim loses weight in her back the fastest.
Her frustration came because she did not see the fat loss on her stomach the way she would have liked to. Little did she know that from behind she looked like a completely different person.
Listen, the emotional roller coaster is an inevitable aspect of any worthy undertaking that we take on in life. Remember getting through college? Or maybe waiting for puberty to set in? How about paying off your debts? The mental battle while attempting to diet and/or achieve weight loss is no different.
So make a conscious decision to stick to your guns. Let it play out. Victory lies in having the strength to make it through the rough spots without cracking under the pressure and losing all that you’ve worked for. If you can just master getting past the point of frustration, before you know it you’ll be seeing results again and getting more compliments.

Many individuals struggle with attaining and maintaining their ideal weight. Many people spend enormous amounts of money on gym memberships, personal trainers, and dietitians but achieve very minimal or unsatisfactory results.

More than just a problem of metabolism and food intake, recent studies show that stress and anxiety might be among the top reasons why people have a hard time losing weight. The human body actually responds to stressful situations by initiating a burst of energy; and by increasing metabolic rates and blood flow. The body also produces a substance called Cortisol, a natural steroid-like hormone that is also called the “stress hormone.” It is known as the“stress hormone” because large amounts of this substance are released whenever a person feels stressed out. It is an important hormone in the human body because it is used by the body for proper glucose metabolism, regulation of blood pressure, immune system function, and inflammatory response. However, high levels of cortisol may do more harm than good. When people becomes stressed, the adrenal glands produce more cortisol that release sugar in the blood which leads to additional weight gain. People who secrete higher levels of cortisol as a reaction to stress tend to eat more food that is high in carbohydrates, fats, salt, and sugar. This includes sweets and other processed foods that are less healthy and may lead to weight gain.

Many people tend to eat more food to suppress emotional stress and depression. They use snacks and food indulgence as escape routes to deal with pain or pressure that they experience. People who partake in these activities are termed as “emotional eaters.” The addictive qualities of food is probably the reason why people eat when they are stressed. For example, chocolate promotes the release of substantial amounts of opiates that improves mood and satisfaction.

One of the big reasons why there are more people who gaining unwanted weight or obese is because many are too stressed and too busy to prepare healthy meals at home. Because of this, they opt to eat food from the nearest fast food. Fast food meals contain many empty calories that are responsible for unwanted weight gain.

To keep stress levels under control, the body’s relaxation response should be activated during stressful situations. The following methods have been proven to be very beneficial in relaxing the mind and the body:

· Keeping a journal or diary
· Self-hypnosis
· Exercise
· Yoga
· Listening to music
· Sex therapy
· Tai chi
· Meditation
· Sex

Losing weight is not just about lifting weights and cutting down on fats and carbohydrates. Of course, exercise alone cannot guarantee that those extra pounds will be shed. But certainly, mental health is critical in any completing a weight loss program. Changing one’s eating habits, engaging in physical activities, and having a positive mindset all play a complimentary role in losing weight. Maintaining a stress-free lifestyle and the practice of stress management techniques may lead to healthier, happier lives.

Eat smaller portions of food you love. You don’t have to sacrifice all the foods your love while you are dieting. Cut high calorie foods into smaller pieces before you eat them. Your body will feel like it is getting more than it actually is. Some brands already sell healthy-sized portions of their snack foods prepackaged.

You should try and add some green tea to your diet whether it be in pill form or in liquid form. Green tea is good because it has lots of antioxidants, but most people do not know that consuming it regularly can lead to a four percent increase in their metabolism levels.

Do not get overwhelmed by losing weight. Using these tips and studying more about how to lose weight, you can overcome and lose those extra pounds. The most important thing in weight loss is being consistent. Don’t stop working on your weight loss plans, keep moving forward and you will see the weight drop off.
